Thurner PR is certified as a “Sustainable Agency”

As Thurner PR reached its milestone 25 years in business, we also celebrated another achievement in the area of social responsibility – we are now a “sustainable agency” based on Quality (ISO 9001), Environment (ISO 14001) and Carbon Footprint (ISO 14064) standards, as certified by CSQA.

In particular, the certification regarding the Carbon Footprint (ISO 14064) is a true innovation. It allowed us to measure the impact of greenhouse gas emissions across all of the agency’s activities. This standard is rarely measured or considered in the analysis of a business that provides a “service” rather than a “product” and, as such, this opens up a new perspective involving a 360° interpretation of sustainability.

Reporting on greenhouse gas emissions, choosing energy providers who rely on renewable sources of energy, using low-consumption appliances, checking the energy efficiency of heating and air conditioning appliances, purchasing recycled or Ecolabel paper and inks with a low environmental impact, drawing up specific work contracts, and increasing the amount of training courses (especially those with a focus on sustainability). These and many other factors were taken into account and analysed during the certification process in order to develop models for continued improvement in the future, aware of the fact that by doing small things on a daily basis one can achieve a remarkable final result.

Certifications in the area of sustainability are just a starting point on a path of constant improvement, a necessity for life, for the environment and for the economy – future prospects that we cannot ignore,” explains Ursula Thurner, founder of Thurner PR.
