G20 Agriculture Summit in Florence: towards the future with sustainability

From 16 to 18 September, Florence will host the G20 dedicated to Agriculture. The most influential countries of the earth will discuss the future of agriculture in the rooms of Palazzo Vecchio, in the heart of the Tuscan capital which is surrounded by vineyards, fields and woods. The themes of sustainability, the protection of natural resources and biodiversity, together with the evaluation of new emergencies, will be at the center of the social and political debate, to study agricultural and food systems for a livable and respectful future for the next generations.

On Thursday evening, at the Teatro della Pergola, the Italian Minister of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies Stefano Patuanelli will start the summit with the Open Forum. The meetings will then continue at Palazzo Vecchio. Side events are expected throughout the city. Just to mention a few, there will be the “percorso verde” (green path) in Piazza Duomo, the initiatives “Donate a fruit” and “Adopt an olive grove”, the inauguration of a new organic market in Piazza Poggi, as well as free entrance to museums and gardens.
