A weekend of tastings in Sicily and Switzerland: the return of Contrade dell’Etna and Matter of Taste.

It’s a weekend to look forward to in Sicily and Switzerland for wine lovers and those working in the wine sector.

From Saturday the 2nd until Monday the 4th of April, Contrade dell’Etna returns, taking place at the Picciolo Golf Resort in Castiglione di Sicilia. This is the 13th edition of the long-awaited event dedicated to the volcano’s wines. It will begin at 9:30 on Saturday with a short ceremony in memory of Andrea Franchetti, founder of the event as well as pioneering producer of Passopisciaro in Sicily and Tenuta di Trinoro in Tuscany. Next, there will be tastings at the stands of 90 wineries including Alberelli di Giodo, Tasca d’Almerita and, of course, Passopisciaro. A new addition this year is the day of masterclasses that will take place on the 2nd of April.

On Saturday the 2nd and Sunday the 3rd of April, Matter of Taste returns to Zurich, hosting many of the international wineries that are most highly appreciated by Wine Advocate’s critics.

The event will take place at the Dolder Grand Hotel, Zurich. Amongst the wineries that will be present and recently achieved the publication’s maximum scores (between 90 and 100) are several from the Belpaese: Pio Cesare in Piemonte, Cantina Kaltern and Cantina Terlano in Alto Adige, Caggio Ipsus and Mazzei – Siepi in Castellina in Chianti, Castello di Querceto in Greve in Chianti, Fattoria Le Pupille from the Maremma, Giodo and Tenuta Luce in Montalcino, Tenuta di Trinoro in Val d’Orcia, all in Tuscany, and Tasca d’Almerita in Sicily.

After a long, pandemic-induced pause in these events, meeting wine producers in person and tasting, together, the results of their work has never been so wonderful!
